About Old World Metal

Jim Vidlak, our founder, has worked with metal for 30 years and understands both the art and the science of his craft. He began his career in automotive body repair and worked in sheet metal fabrication before finding his niche in ornamental metalwork in the early 1990s. He worked as shop foreman in the industry for seven years before founding Old World Metal in 2004.

Jim’s metal art pieces have been displayed at the Prairie Winds Gallery in Grand Island and at the former University Place Art Center in Lincoln. He has also exhibited at the Cathedral Art Show in Lincoln.

Jim is the Treasurer of the Prairie Blacksmiths Association, a member of The Artist-Blacksmith’s Association of North America (ABANA) and a member of The Blacksmiths Association of Missouri. Old World Metal is an associate member of the Home Builders Association of Lincoln (Neb.) and the Remodelers Council of Lincoln.
